Different fish

There are many "odd-ball" fish around, and sometimes people want something a bit different.

Clown Loach (Botia macracantha): A very popular fish, an attractive one. It has some distinctive black stripes across the body, always with one through the forehead and eyes. It can be quite an active fish, and can tolerate other species, seems to do well with other Clown Loaches.

Rope Fish, Snakefish (Erpetoichthys calabaricus): This is certainly a fish from the norm, and would need a very big tank. This fish is a lobe-finned pike, from the family of Polypteridae.

Pufferfish (Tetraodon steindachneri): This is actually 'Tetradon steindachneri', of the Tetradonae family. A fantastic looking fish, although i have never had one personally. This fish is very intolerant and aggresive, and often attacks plants - one good thing though, they go for snails as well.

Freshwater Stingray (Potamotrygon laticeps): Eh? I could actually have a freshwater stingray, you are thinking, and you would be right in that assumption - but they are very rare and many have had difficulty in breeding them in captivity. Of course, they can get very large as well.
